Podcast Episode
The episode of the podcast linked in the image above is about the self-proclaimed "Rock and Roll King of the Southwest", Bobby Fuller. Bobby Fuller was born in Baytown, Texas. The Fullers moved around a lot in Bobby's childhood, eventually settling down in El Paso, Texas. At a young age, he developed an interest in music, learning many different instruments, from piano, to drums, to guitar. He decided to form a band with friends of his, and his younger brother, Randy. They built their own home recording studio, and eventually, they created their own record labels, releasing singles that became local hits, making it onto radio stations in their area. Bobby eventually opened his own club, where his band could play, but they soon had to close down. Bobby and Randy decided they wanted to continue their music, and moved to California to find an official record label, finally finding success with Bob Keane of Del-Fi records. After many different releases of singles, they recorded their biggest hit, "I Fought the Law", which was their own cover a song written by The Crickets. Sadly, Bobby's fame didn't last long for him, as he mysteriously died in 1966, with many theories, and no answers.

List of Songs (In no particular order)
1. "I Fought the Law" - Bobby Fuller Four - 60's Rock
Why I included it - A catchy song that is a cover of a song written by Sonny Curtis, a member of Buddy Holly's band, The Crickets. This song has been covered by many, but this band did the best versions in my opinion.

Tools of the Scenario
- Drum Sticks - These are crucial for the drummer, as you can't play without them!
- Guitar Picks - Without these, the guitarists can't play. While some people play without them, the kind of music we play needs them!
- Microphone - Without this, how will the singer be able to sing over all the other sounds from the other members?
- Speaker Cables - You need these cables to be able to link up the speakers to the mixer so they work.
- Amplifiers - You'll need these to hear the electric guitars and bass, or else they'll be too quiet.
- Backup Drum Heads - You'll want to have these in case you break on at a show, especially if it's a crucial head, like the snare.
- Backup Guitar Strings - If you break a string during the show, you'll want to change them out so the how goes on.
- Transport - You'll need a way to get to the shows and transport your gear. A U-Haul truck does a pretty good job of this.
Effects of a Good Show on the Community
- More fans - Any good show at a place where people already are, such as a carnival, will draw in more fans of the band who'll want to hear more.
- More shows - As you gain more fans, there is a decent chance some of them will want a band to play somewhere for them, and if they're impressed, they might want yours!
- Invites Back - Places like carnivals will want you back if you bring a large crowd, and may even give your band a better night to play on, such as a Friday, when more people will be there, which will help you with more fans.
- Merchandise - If you start selling things like shirts, don't be surprised if you see your fans buying them, only for a large crowd of people wearing them to be at future shows!
- Potential for ringing ears - Most people aren't all that used to loud music, so they might be surprised by the volume, but, it's all worth it to hear the good music.
Detective Gebhart Visit
In class, we heard from Detective Gebhart. He came in to talk about surviving an active shooter. We went over things such as fleeing, hiding, and fighting, and other topics such as how to fortify a room you might have to hide in. To demonstrate this, he had us stack our desks at the classroom door to act as a barricade, while others covered windows. This was to show how the class should work as a team to survive in the event this happens. This is important to know because while it may not happen all the time, it can still happen and it's important to know how to survive this event. This information is applicable to almost anywhere you might find yourself to be in this situation. This doesn't exactly connect to my topic, but this knowledge, as mentioned already, can be useful almost anywhere in the event of an active shooter. Below is a picture of the desk barricade he had us create.
Mr. Meckley Reflection
We went into the woods to learn about building shelters, animal traps, and fires. This might not connect in a clear way to my topic, however, it i important to know. One might be able to draw a connection that if the band is on the way to a show and gets lost, whether in a storm or some sort of freak plane accident, they would need to know how to keep themselves alive in order to be rescued. To survive, it's crucial to know how to do such tasks, as you need to be protected from the elements, catch food, cook the food, and stay warm.
Fire Starting
Method - Ferro Rod
Why we chose it - This method is one that is relatively common for survival, and a ferro rod is a good tool to have in a survival kit, as while you might not be able to start a fire every time, it is less likely to fail in different conditions, such as lack of sunlight.
Materials needed - Ferro rod, tinder (we used dryer lint, an empty toilet paper tube, and some cardboard for our different trials), and fuel as the fire grows.
Reflection - This method was relatively challenging for us. While we were able to get a fire started, we had to spend a lot of time rearranging the way we had the pile laid out. The sparks also took quite some time to catch, but we were still successful in the end, managing to start a fire on 2 out of our 3 trials. I would use this method again, but I would wish to do more research on better techniques to use the ferro rod, and better ways of building the fire.
Connection to topic - This doesn't really connect to surviving my topic, but as other things were, this is useful survival knowledge in situations where resources might be limited, such as having no lighter or matches. A situation could include being lost in the woods on a camping trip.
